FAQS

IS MY THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?

With a few important exceptions, privacy is your right as a patient or client. Psychotherapists are ethically bound to protect your privacy regardless of what information you choose to share with others.

WHAT IF MY PARTNER DOESN’T WANT TO DO COUPLES THERAPY?

Couples therapy requires the full commitment of both parties in a relationship. If your partner isn’t ready, you may want to consider individual therapy for yourself, which may benefit the relationship as well.

HOW LONG DOES COUPLES THERAPY LAST?

Depending on the presenting concerns, couples therapy typically takes anywhere from six to twelve months of bi-weekly sessions.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE CBT-I FOR INSOMNIA?

The structured protocol for CBTI-I requires about eight weekly sessions.

DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATION?

No. Marriage and Family Therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. I am happy to consult with your prescribing MD/Psychiatrist with your written consent.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

  • 50-Minute Individual Sessions: $180 (In Person or Online)

  • 60-Minute Couples Sessions $240 (In Person)

  • 50-Minute CBT-I for Insomnia $180 (In Person)

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?

Payment is accepted by credit card via the Ivy Pay App.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

I do not accept insurance for clients in my private practice. You may be able to get partial reimbursement from your insurance company if your plan covers out of network mental health treatment. Upon request, I will provide a super bill for you to submit in such cases. I can not bill insurance directly.

WHERE IS YOUR OFFICE LOCATED?

My office is located at 2485 Clay at the intersection of Fillmore and Clay Streets in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Psychotherapy is sometimes challenging, and there may be times you want to avoid attending treatment.  This is an important stage of therapy, and it is better to speak about this intentionally in session rather than canceling  sessions.  I hold your appointment time specifically for you and it is often extremely difficult to fill your last minute canceled session on short notice.  Therefore, I charge for appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice unless we can find another time that week that works for both of us.  If that happens, I will allow you to reschedule at no additional fee.

If you are running late for your session, please contact me as soon as you can to let me know you will be late.  If I do not hear from you by 15 minutes into your session, I may call , text or email you to check in and may assume you do not plan to attend your session.

If you are late for your session, we will still end at our regular time so that I have time to prepare for my next appointments and I can be on time for them.
